Frequently Asked Questions

Technical clarifications on modern optical hardware.

Does a higher megapixel count mean better photos?

Not necessarily. While higher megapixels capture more detail in perfect lighting, physical sensor size and individual pixel size matter much more for dynamic range, color accuracy, and low-light performance.

What is pixel binning?

Pixel binning is a computational process where the data from a grid of adjacent pixels (e.g., 4, 9, or 16) is merged into a single, larger 'super-pixel' to dramatically improve light gathering capabilities in dark environments.

Why do I need a 10-bit display?

If you record in 10-bit HDR or ProRes, standard 8-bit displays cannot physically show the millions of extra colors you captured. A 10-bit display ensures you can accurately view and grade your cinematic footage without color banding.
